OC Global is
the Online Teaching and Learning Certification Program!
Our second 2019 cohort of the Odessa College Online Teaching and Learning Certification Program (OTL) will begin in 2019 Fall 2! For this cohort, we’ll be flipping the courses, so there will be a face-to-face element as well as the online components. You will have opportunities in class to discuss with your peers and facilitators, and will be able to receive guidance through the assessments.
The Online Teaching and Learning Certification Program consists of five courses:
- Designing for Online Learning (Beginning Week of 14-October-2019) – In this course, we will delve into the basic foundations of online teaching and learning, and explore theories of education and instructional design.
- Assessment in the Online Environment (beginning Week of 4-November-2019) – In this course, we look at assessing learning online, both summatively and formatively. We will also look at assessing course efficacy toward helping learners achieve outcomes at the course, program, and institutional levels.
Multimedia and Technology (Beginning Week of 6-January-2020) – In this course, we will explore effectively incorporating media and technology into online courses. This course also has a strong focus on appropriate use of content, covering adherence/compliance to Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as Copyright and Fair Use.
- Building Community in Online Learning (Beginning Week of 3-February-2020) – In this course, we will cover the importance of community in learning, and explore ways to increase instructor presence, and to enhance learning through student interaction.
- OTL Practicum (Completed prior to end of 2020 Spring 2) – For the practicum, you will take what you have learned throughout the OTL and apply it in a way that is most meaningful to you.
