Captioning Videos Using TechSmith

OC Global is launching a process for faculty to provide assistance with captioning TechSmith videos. Before we can assist you with captioning, there are a few things that we need for you to do.

  1. We ask that you verify that the videos have privacy settings set to “Only users from your organization.”
Not sure how to do that? Here is a link to a video that will demonstrate how to do this. Set Privacy Option (TechSmith)
  2. We also ask that you begin the process of auto-generating captions for your videos. Here’s a link to a video that will demonstrate how to do this. AutoGenerate Captions (TechSmith)

After ensuring that your videos are available to “Only users from your organization,” and beginning the auto-captioning process, please click on the link below and provide us the name and length of each video you need captioned (along with your name and email address). We have asked for some other information to help us prioritize the captioning process, so please complete the entire form.
Google Form – Caption My TechSmith Videos

Your OC Global Team will edit the auto-generated captions as needed, and inform you when the process is complete. At this time, we will notify you if there are areas that were unintelligible, or possibly terminology about which we may be unsure, with the timestamp where that occurs in the video. This will allow you to check/edit that portion of the video to ensure that the captions are accurate.

When you are confident that the video is properly captioned, you will publish the captions to make them available. Not sure how to do that? Here is a link to a video that demonstrates how you can publish the captions.
Publishing Captions (TechSmith)

Of course, you are welcome to caption the videos yourself! For videos that the OC Global Team has captioned, please understand that you will need to review and edit auto-generated captions to ensure accuracy of content, spelling/grammar, and punctuation. To facilitate these processes, OC Global will be holding Captioning sessions in the PLC beginning this week; sessions will be repeated to ensure that all have opportunity to participate. Please watch for those, and other sessions that will help you ensure that your course content is accessible to all of your learners, and adheres to standards suggested by the American Disabilities Act.

Thank you for helping us to ensure that course materials are accessible to all of our learners!
